On Friday afternoon, June 28, the Institute for Eastern Christianity (Instituut voor Oosters Christendom, IVOC), our sister institute at Radboud University, organized a mini-symposium. The theme was trauma and healing. One of the speakers was the rector of the St Irenaeus, Father Michael Bakker. His contribution was entitled ‘Liturgical healing in Orthodox practice: a reflection’ (Liturgische heling in de Orthodoxe Praktijk: een beschouwing). Fr Michael analysed a recent case study and explored trauma in Orthodox spiritual care.
The second speaker was chaplain Sanneke Brouwers who spoke about her work as a spiritual caregiver in the Dutch armed forces. The third speaker was Orthodox theologian Petre Maican, a colleague at Radboud University.
