Since July 2021 St Irenaeus Institute is part of the Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious studies at Radboud University in Nijmegen. The inauguration took place on September 9th (photo below). You will find the institute’s dedicated webpages via this link.
Basic financial funding is provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
Director Fr Michael Bakker, Fr John Behr and Fr Joan Lena (parttime) are employed by Radboud University and part of the scientific staff of the Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious studies. Fr John Behr was appointed Professor of Orthodox Theology.
The academic courses offered by our staff members are part of the educational courses of the faculty. Enrolment takes place via application at Radboud University. More information can be found on the ‘Theological’ page of this website.
From 2010 until 2021 the institute was part of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam under the name Amsterdam Centre for Orthodox Theology (ACOT).
