Orthodox Chaplaincy in the Dutch armed forces

On December 14th, 2024, the Dutch Orthodox Representative Organ (Orthodoxe Zendende Instantie) signed an agreement with the Ministery of Defence regarding the temporary recognition of the Orthodox Representative Organ as a Representative Organ for the Dutch armed forces. Based on this agreement, there will soon be two vacancies for Orthodox army chaplains, for a period of three years.

At the request of the Orthodox Representative Organ, St Irenaeus organised an information session about these positions, in collaboration with the Ministery of Defence. This session took place on Friday, January 24th. People interested in the position were able to get more information on what working as a chaplain in the armed forces would actually be like.
